According to Bungie, the intention behind this change is to make raid-specific loot in Destiny 2 more rewarding for players who participate in these endgame activities, by giving bonuses specifically for the raids. The new change coming to Destiny 2 is that any new raid armor gained after Beyond Light launches will include a fifth raid-specific mod slot that older and non-raid gear won't include. One of these changes surrounds raids like The Last Wish and how the gear that will drop as a reward for completing these activities will be getting altered specifically, make raiding more rewarding.
